I would
like to cover a problem I saw quite often while I was working at European Sports Cars,
concerning older MGs with the metal blade cooling fan. After repairs were done (for
example, to the water pump) by the owner or a not-so-knowledgeable MG shop, I would find
many times that the cooling fan had been put on backwards.
The correct position for
the cooling fan is always with the curvature of the blade facing the radiator. To double
check correct air flow, hold a light weight clothing the very front of the radiator with
the engine running, the airflow should suck the cloth into the radiator, towards the
engine.
