We'll gather at the home
of Judy Davis in Placerville* for coffee, juice and pre-trip
chatting between 9:30 and 10:00, then head out at 10:30
for the beautiful drive up Mormon Emigrant Trail into the high
country. Weather permitting, we'll cross the Sierras on Hwy. 88
and end up in Hope Valley where we'll enjoy our picnic
lunch while taking in the beauty of this scenic spot. If road
conditions prevent our going that far, we'll stop at Silver
Lake, Woods Lake or one of the other picnic grounds this side of
the crest for our lunch. After enjoying the views and lunch,
we'll return via 88 and Omo Ranch Road into the Shenandoah
Valley, perhaps for some wine tasting, then return to our
various homes via Plymouth and E16 or 49 through Placerville.
Judy would like to know in advance
how many people to plan for. Please e-mail Judy at
jsprould@comcast.net
to confirm your participation.
Notes: This trip is clearly somewhat dependent on Mother
Nature's generosity! Will the leaves have turned colorful or
have all fallen by then? Will it have rained or snowed? Will the
temperature be such that a tour in an MG will be fun rather than
an ordeal? We'll have to make the final decision in mid-October
so, if you plan on joining us, please re-visit this site after
October 17th to see if the trip is still on. If we do go, please
bring folding chairs or blankets and your picnic lunch.
*Judy Davis lives at 1109 Elm Avenue in Placerville. From Hwy.
50 turn South at the Bedford Avenue traffic light, turn left at
the T-junction onto Main Street. Bear left at the junction with
Cedar Ravine, staying on Main till you reach Locust on the left.
Turn on Locust and go through the freeway underpass. Judy's back
yard is on Locust, between Weswin and Elm. Park in the gravel
area just before you see Weswin Ct. on your left. Access Judy's
back garden via the side gate opposite where you parked.
