Once again, the Sacramento
Valley MG Car Club will be hosting this annual event. Your
Rallymaster, Lawrie Alexander, will be challenging SVMGCC and
UBSCC members to enjoy a roughly 85-mile, 2-1/2 hour drive through
some beautiful countryside while answering questions and generally
trying not to be made an “April Fool”. Nothing too difficult and the
directions will be (almost!) guaranteed not to get you lost. Even if
you do manage to mis-place yourself, there will be an “emergency
envelope” which, if opened, will tell you where the rally ends.
Participation is open to all paid-up members of either club,
preferably driving their British car but of course you won’t be
turned away if you are in something else. At sign-up, you will be
asked to show current registration and insurance for your car.
This will not be a timed, speed event and contestants will be
expected to obey all traffic laws while on the rally.
Prizes will be awarded to the three 2-man crews who achieve the
highest scores and, for the first time, there will be an award for
the best-performing club.
The
scores of the top five finishers from each club will be added, those
with the highest combined total will receive special recognition and
their club will be declared victorious. There will also be some
special prizes and all entrants will receive a dash plaque.
We will meet in the parking lot next to the Burger King, 171 Iron
Point Road in Folsom (just off Folsom Blvd. close to Hwy. 50).
Sign-up will begin at 9:30, the first car out will leave at 10:00
a.m., followed by others at 1-minute intervals. The rally will
end with a gathering at an excellent winery where you will be able
to enjoy a nice picnic lunch while waiting for the results to be
tabulated and
announced. If you prefer to bring your own lunch, that’s OK.
In order to ensure that we have adequate dash plaques, rally
packets and lunches available, pre-event sign-up is requested. If
you would like to participate in this event, please complete the
Entry Form and Lunch Request Form and mail them, with your check, to
the Rallymaster no later than March 15th, 2010. Late entrants
will be accepted at sign-up if we have enough dash plaques and rally
packets but they will need to provide their own lunches.
Much as we’d like to, we cannot guarantee a sunny day and, with
Easter being the following weekend, a rain date for the rally is
impractical. Therefore, the event will run rain or shine. If it does
turn out to be a rainy day, and your sports car’s wipers and
demister aren’t up to the task, please still show up in your modern
car. Checkpoint marshals will have volunteered to be out on the
course so please don’t disappoint them with a low turnout ………and, of
course, we cannot refund entry fees or return the uneaten
sandwiches.
We hope to see you there and promise you a very enjoyable rally.
